SKETCH GALLERY: Richard Hoover

Sketches are a way to explore the spaces and are not tonal camera frame oriented illustrations. They are instructional. I use the pencil because it is quick. The process helps me think. And finally the sketches are suggestive for the making group by providing a basic look. And for the director they are points of discussion.

Of course I have been drawing so fast these days that detail suffers. I do better slower and by drawing in layers using overlaying sheet or tissue paper, improving each time with hopes. I long to find the skill to illustrate in terms of light and shadow. Time is the problem for me. Film design is not a calm process for me.
