We are a group of colleagues dedicated to mutual support through sharing knowledge, encouragement and experience. The Collective enables its members to exchange professional experiences, give and receive advice, discuss current issues in the field and construct a community of like-minded visual creators.

The organization‘s objectives are: to be a hub for production design organizations around the world; to promote our profession by bringing awareness and acknowledgment of our contribution in the entertainment industry; to elevate the profession by mentoring future generations of production designers.

The Collective maintains and updates its content on this website, blog, Facebook page and a bi-monthly newsletter. 

We organize seminars, panels and meetups around the world designed to connect colleagues and advance our craft.

FOUNDERS

Inbal Weinberg

Born in Israel and based in New York, Inbal studied Film at NYU, where she concentrated on production design. Her film credits include award-winning films "Frozen River", “The Perks of Being A Wallflower”, ”Pariah” by Dee Reese and “Beasts of No Nation” by Cary Fukunaga. She has collaborated with director Derek Cianfrance on Academy Award nominated films “Blue Valentine” and “The Place Beyond The Pines”, and his Emmy-winning mini-series “I Know This Much Is True”.

 

Inbal was nominated for the David di Donatello award for her work on Luca Guadagnino's "Suspiria”, as well as Art Directors Guild Awards for Martin McDonagh’s “Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri” and Maggie Gyllenhaal’s ”The Lost Daughter”. She recently collaborated with Pedro Almodóvar on “The Room Next Door”, for which she is nominated for the Spanish Goya. 

Kalina Ivanov

Kalina Ivanov is an award-winning production designer whose work includes the Oscar-nominated film “Little Miss Sunshine,” “Rabbit Hole”, “The Conspirator”, “Poltergeist” and “Max”, the Golden Globe-nominated television show “Smash (S2)” and award-winning HBO series “Lovecraft Country”, for which she received an ADG Awards nomination. Prior to that, she earned a Primetime Emmy Award and ADG Award for the HBO film “Grey Gardens”. Kalina most collaborated with director George Clooney on the films “The Boys in the Boat” and “The Tender Bar”. She recently designed the Max TV show “The Penguin”. Kalina was the storyboard artist for Oscar-winning film “Silence Of The Lambs”.

Kalina serves on the board of the Sofia Independent Film Festival, and as a governor of the Design branch executive board at the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.

Rick Carter

Rick Carter won Academy Awards for the production design of James Cameron’s “Avatar” and for his historical production design of Steven Spielberg’s “Lincoln.” Carter also received Oscar nominations for his work on Robert Zemeckis’ “Forrest Gump” and Steven Spielberg’s epic “War Horse.” Carter has collaborated with Spielberg on diversely set films “Munich,” “War of the Worlds,” “A.I. Artificial Intelli- gence,” and blockbusters “Jurassic Park” and “The Lost World: Jurassic Park.” Recently, he collaborated with Spielberg on “The BFG”, “The Post,” and his auto-biographical film “The Fabelmans.” Carter has also designed Zemeckis’ movies “The Polar Express,” “Cast Away,” “What Lies Beneath,” “Death Becomes Her” and “Back to the Future, Parts II and III.” More recently, Carter co-production designed “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” and “Star Wars: The Rise Of Skywalker” with director JJ Abrams.

Molly began her film career in 2002 as a draftsperson on "Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban." She went on to work on the franchise for the next eight years, eventually as an art director on "Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince" and "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Parts 1 and 2."

 

Molly launched her production design career with the film "The Fault In Our Stars." Since then, she has collaborated with directors Ron Howard on "Thirteen Lives" and "Hillbilly Elegy," and Charlie Kaufman on "I Am Thinking of Ending Things." She designed Joachim Trier’s film "Louder Than Bombs," and Thea Sharrock’s virtual reality animation film "The One and Only Ivan." Most recently, Molly again collaborated with David Yates to design his film "Pain Hustlers."

Mara LePere-Schloop

Mara LePere-Schloop has three dogs and one husband. She “lives” in New Orleans and sometimes costumes for holidays that do not typically warrant a costume.

Mara has designed the environments for vampires, serial killers, depressed Korean families, Elvis and Nixon. Sometimes the fine folks at the ADG give her awards for these environments and she is shocked. When not working, Mara likes to get her hands dirty working in clay while pondering the end of the world, if not the end of the industry.

Anne Seibel

Anne Seibel started her career as a set designer on international productions shooting in France, thanks to her English language skills. She was the Paris art director for the features “Munich”, “The Devil Wears Prada” and the TV show “Sex and the City”, as well as supervising art director for Sofia Coppola’s “Marie Antoinette” for production designer K.K Barrett.

 

In 2011 Anne designed Woody Allen’s “Midnight in Paris”, for which she was nominated for an Academy Award. They collaborated again on “To Rome with Love” and “Magic in the Moonlight”. Her other credits include Ralph Fiennes’ “The White Crow”, Agnieszka Holland’s miniseries “Rosemary’s Baby”, Damien Chazelle’s “The Eddy” and “Emily in Paris”, for which she received an ADG and two Emmy nominations. Anne is the Head of the Production Design Program at the La Fémis Film School in Paris.

Alexander Whittenberg

Alexander Whittenberg is an Atlanta based designer working in film, television, theatre, and immersive experiences. He holds a degree in Scenography from the Conservatory of Theatre Arts at SUNY Purchase. His film and tv credits include “Popular Theory”, "The Archetypes", "Bear With Us", "Headless: A Sleepy Hollow Story", upcoming films “Bridged” and “A Watchful Eye”, and numerous commercials. As an art director/assistant art director, he’s worked on “Rise” for Disney, “Them (S2)” for Amazon/Sony, Billboard Music Awards and more. 

 

Alex recently designed a series of holiday windows for Amazon in New York City and continues to regularly design for regional theatre. His portfolio also includes projects for Disney Parks Live Entertainment and Livesight Creative. His forthcoming podcast “Apotheosis” will explore the unseen world of film design. He is a member of the Art Directors Guild.

COORDINATING TEAM

Ieva Buzinskaite

Ieva Buzinskaite is an experienced art department coordinator of internationally acclaimed productions such as "Chernobyl", and co-founder of the training program Art Department Masterclass. She was the assistant director of the  2024 Production Designers Gathering, and is the current project manager for the PDC's 2025 initiatives. Ieva holds a Master’s degree in Innovation and Technology
Management, and 
thrives on managing complex tasks, uniting diverse teams, and navigating the high-pressure demandsof creative projects with precision and respect for others.

Michael Bigsby

Michael Bigsby graduated with a BFA in Production Design from the Savannah College of Art and Design, where he gained a strong foundation in design principles and hands-on experience. After graduating, he moved to New York City, which has been an endless source of inspiration.

He has worked as a set decorator, set dresser, and art department assistant for TV , short films, and commercials. His passions include photography, architecture, and interior design.

Isabella Bortoluzzi

Morgan Smith

Isabella is a Brazilian assistant art director and set decorator with a BA in Film. During her studies she focused mostly on production design. She is currently based in Brazil and works in commercials, films and television. Production design encompasses many of her passions: interior design, architecture and art.

After completing her interior design degree, Morgan began her career in New York as an art coordinator for editorials and commercials with MHS artists. She transitioned into the narrative world as a participant in the inaugural class of ArtCraft NYC. In addition to her art department work, Morgan works in event production for the Sundance and Telluride Film Festivals.
